Ashley Madekwe and Ashley Leggat
Madekwe was born into a mixed ethnic family. Her father is Nigerian-Swiss while her mother was English. She was born and raised on a council estate located south of London. When she was fourteen, she was enrolled at The Brit School. In London, she studied at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in which her acting diploma was awarded. While attending the school, she was a part-time actor in a number of stage productions such as the King Henry V playing Princess Katherine as well as Wuthering Heights portraying Catherine Earnshaw.
Madekwe started acting in Storm Damage. She has since made appearances on Teachers, Doctors Casualty and Drop Dead Gorgeous. Madekwe's first film appearance was Woody Allen's Cassandra's Dream (2007), opposite Colin Farrell. After that, she played Elisha in the one-off BBC Three drama pilot West 10 LDN as well as appearing in the six episodes of Trexx and Flipside playing Ollie. The year 2008 saw her landed the part as Bambi in The ITV2 drama series Secret Diary of a Call Girl which aired in episodes two and three. Madekwe was a star in 2008's comedy How to Alienate and Lose Friends. Her credits in the theatre include Little Sweet Thing (by Roy Williams) and Flight Path (by David Watson).
Madekwe debuted in the US with The Beautiful Life. The drama program was telecast on The CW for only two episodes before being removed from the air. Ashley Davenport was her role in ABC's drama Revenge. Madekwe had appeared in all episodes in the series' first two seasons as an regular. However, in May of 2013, it was announced that word broke that the actress would be departing the show following her guest appearance in the first episode of the series' third season. In 2014 and 2016, she starred as Tituba the television series Salem. Madekwe married her long-time partner, Iddo. They've worked together in the show Secret Diary of a Call Girl and he also played a part with her in the television series Salem.
Ashley Leggat grew up in Hamilton Ontario with a huge family. Her four older brothers were also present including twins Todd & Bram, Brett & Rob. Ashley's siblings, who are all sportsmen, played in the summer months and play hockey in the winter months. Ashley did not have the ability to walk, however she did dance. When she turned two-and-a-half she took up Baby Ballet and fell in with. Ashley discovered her love for dance when she was just a few years old. Ashley was a professional dancer throughout the various categories until the time she graduated from high school. She was a competitor in ballet, jazz, tap and pointe, as well as the acrobatics. She was crowned the top soloist at each of the major dance competitions including, International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers, 5-6-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, and Dance, Dance, Dance just to mention a few.
